Comissions ain't no slavery

The Cossack-gun got based and received a dog! Sadly the teeth ain't visible.

And then there's some arab militia for that turkish army that I am painting up for Kevin. (And the sake of Westfalias funding) I used a strong color-scheme and the 2 copplestone models from Foundry really give that spear block some nice focus.

Cossacks!

I got around to paint more. Niels was kind enough to send me some Unicorn 3Pdr from his own collection and I was painting up the Cossacks Paul made for us a couple of months aso.

To me it was fun and I am happy how things turned out.

Grenadier Direction Fanions

Alright it's not the same like painting miniatures since it all happend in the digital space, yet here's a different bit of creativity for you. These are Fanions the Saxon Grenadiers (and all other infantry apparently) were using for formation-changes and on marches.

These are fixed to the pole that you can see below on the 2nd miniature (a Sergeant) from the left.

Old Glory PT III - Muslim Patrol!

Day job keeps me busy. Disney is on my heels and and and. So still no time to get my beloved Westfalia carts done, but a band of Nezam Zedid which are part of a Painting comission that I've
accepted to accelerate Westfalia a bit.

These Turkish troops were organized after Western example and lead by foreign officers.

My costumer has send some fancy Austrian 7yw NCO along with his Turks. I was adding some suitable saber incl. Holster from a Westfalia set with exchange parts. Finally I was painting him in the
same scheme like the Rankers since the appearance of such officers is a mystery and it simply looks good.

More Old Glory

I finished my unit of Janissaries by attaching 2 groups of Arab Militia.

Next up is (finally) some Westfalia-stuff I was receiving from Niels.
Sled-gun here I come!

New Saxon Musketeers

Progress on the Saxon-front is a bit slower than expected. Yet things fall into place with the guns and carts being almost ready.

Now I have the pleasure to present you with the upcoming Saxon Musketeers in campaign-dress. They have a rather realistic mixture of headress and are meant to add some variety to the existing formation.

turkish Janissaries

I am painting these for a buddy and I have to admit that I really like these chunky blokes.

Saechsischer Patronenwagen

I've seen this vehicle for the first time in a book that was released before Germany got reunited for the 10th time. There was a Patronenwagen (Ammunition carrier) for the Infantry and the Cavalry. The 'Hauptpark' of the army had more than 80 such vehicles, which must've made them a very common sight.

I personally love the Trittbretter as well as the nice texture of the side-parts.

The wheels are Bavarian from my knowledge since our own Saxon wheels will only turn up on tuesday! :--)

50K page-views

I'd say that's a perfect opportunity to celebrate!

Feel free to join into the fun by commenting below or by sending an email to info@westfaliaminiatures.com and tell us something you'd normally say on a funky party!

The first 25 to write either per email or leave a comment will receive one of our Cantinieres for free! (Obviously another miniature is fine too:-) You must be alright with being announced as a winner however!

I am looking forward to the next 50k!

Your ever so grateful Kawe

How obscure can it get over at Westfalia?

Bloody damn obscure! At least if men of the caliber of our valued Costumer Alexander Baden come to make suggestions.

What we see below is a Coach used by the French imperial Post Services. Iit's still in the middle of development, but I really thought this should be shared.

The model is part of Napoleons HQ which is a most interesting topic but certainly something with limited Gaming-value.

And that's that :--)

Cossacks come extra for those that like to change their sets.

Saxons!

I just got around to finish my first badly understrangth Battalion of 'Von Rechten' Musketiers.
This is likely the last bit of painting for a while since another move is imminent.

Cossack artillery with winter-gear

I came across some references that sparked my interest.
I was handing them over to Niels to have a look at them
and 4 days later some images reached me that I just need
to share with you people.

Salute 1813

I am happy that worked out.

Retreat from Moscow

I still own a set of really old retreat from Moscow Flats from the 30's. I was asking Paul quite a while ago to get started on a Cantiniere on the retreat and he really nailed things down.

What a miniature...

First Wave of Saxons

A few days ago the first Saxons arrived and I'm pleased as a proud owner of a Saxon Granny can be.

Paul did a fabulous job and I was surprised when I was holding them beside my Calpe Saxons as they
seem to be a very good match.

All Westfalia

Few Calpe mixed in (see black dot)

Note the biggest difference - calpes tend to lean forward and have the right boot forward while Westfalias are pretty straight and have the left boot in front. Also Calpe has very slightly bigger bayonets and deepwe cloth-folds.

Next is the Grenadiers!

A sudden side-project

We welcome Frank Germershaus as wellreknown former 20mm sculptor.
He will support us with the French Train and we've received the first masters.

Impressive attention to detail and very clean sculpting are Franks trade-marks.

Crane with crew:

Train-officer with 3 replacement heads and 2 arms - can be used as normal infantry officer too.

Train-trumpeter

These will complement our existing assets nicely and Paul won't get distracted from finishing the great many Saxons ahead of him.

It's 2013 and the 'Saxon issue' needs to get sorted.

There's the old Coinesseur range. Really limited choice of poses, but many basic formations.
Then there's Calpe which is glorious but still limited to Fusiliers.
Eureka released Kuerassiere. Crisp details, but I do not like the sculpts to much.

To me that's not a choice I can live with, so we at Westfalia decided to get our own Saxons on the way.
Our approach will be to cover all formations with a releases of 6 to 14 miniatures per formation. We soon plough on with Grenadiers, Artillery, Light Infantry, Jaegers and eventually light cavalry.

Please enjoy some early wips of the Musketiers.
